To date I have lost 17 pounds/two pant sizes since my journey began in March with The Front Training room.

Over the last two years I have been putting on extra pounds and having a difficult time shedding them. As a child I was super active, in college I was a scholar athlete, and as an adult I live in the outdoors climbing, hiking, snowboarding, biking etc. A combination of age and my love of pastry shops, pasta, bread and my metabolism changing, these activities weren’t working anymore to keep me at the fitness level I wanted to be. I needed to spice it up and bring in a new routine physically and assess my nutrition.

In trying to figure out what this change needed to be; I happen to be climbing as a guest at The Front one night and there was a flyer for a 4-week training boot camp for women next door at The Front Training Room. This was perfect, I do well with scheduled classes. As well as, the expectation to be there every class, be guided by a trainer and the knowing these work outs would push me past what I would do on my own.

The 4-week boot camp was fantastic. The instructor was helpful and encouraging. I was able to start a routine of morning work outs and healthier eating. Boot camp was tough, but totally worth it! One of my favorite mantras that came from these 4-weeks was, “it never gets easier, you’ll just get faster”. Once boot camp ended, I was down a pant size and ecstatic, I became Training Room’s biggest fan and crossed my fingers they would start holding work out classes regularly.

About a month or so later regular classes began and I joined The Front and The Front Training Room! I started by attending 2-3 classes a week plus climbing and hiking. I was exhausted every weekend. My body hadn’t adapted to such activity. I needed to now balance my nutrition with the calories I was burning to give it the fuel it needed to recover, build and be ready for the next work out. Now, with the Gnarly 30-day Fitness Challenge I am pushing myself to continue to reach my best self. Attend classes I may not normally attend and take the opportunity to learn and grow with weight training and overall fitness. My boyfriend and a good friend of mine are enrolled in the challenge as well. It’s fun to talk with friends about the classes, our food diaries and what I am learning about my daily nutrition habits. It’s great to be meeting new people in this challenge, hearing about their goals and why they are participating.

With these changes over the last 6 months. My digestive issues have subsided, my skin is clearer, my energy level has increased, I am sleeping better, my joints don’t ache as much and I don’t crave sugar, pasta or bread. I feel STRONG!! I plan to maintain what I have worked so hard to reach. I am so thankful for what Jackie and The Training Room offers. These trainers and instructors know how to best work with you, they listen to you and your body and push you to be a better you!

See you in class!!
